Trilobites were prehistoric marine arthropods that lived long before dinosaurs - more than 250 million years ago.They are known for their distinctive three-lobed, armored exoskeletons and are among the earliest and most iconic life forms preserved in the fossil record.

Although trilobites have no direct living descendants, their closest modern relatives include horseshoe crabs, crustaceans, insects, spiders and scorpions.
